This paper aims to make a contribution to the knowledge about the effects of the pandemic on criminal activity. Specifically, it explores whether the impact of this event was the same on violent and non-violent crimes, taking into account that the dynamics of these crimes are different. To do this, the evolution of the crimes of robbery with violence and robbery without violence in both, Jalisco and the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, is specifically examined. The results show that there are differentiated effects on these crimes, both in the year in which the greatest changes in people's activities occurred due to the pandemic and in the following year. Based on these results, some crime prevention recommendations are made for decision-makers in this area.
