On December 17, 2020, the newspaper El Universal made the publication in relation to the salary increase, in which it stated that on December 16, 2020, the National Minimum Wage Commission approved a 15% increase in salary
The minimum wage in Mexico, which will be in force from 2021, that is, the minimum wage goes from 123.22 to 141.70 a day and in the free zone of the northern border it goes from 185 .56 to 213.39 a day.
They also mention that this increase to the minimum wage seeks to improve the quality of life of Mexicans, as well as their purchasing power, noting that this decision will lead Mexico to occupy the 76th place out of 135 countries in terms of the minimum wage, the Government Federal maintains that this decision will benefi t the economy, reduce economic
inequality between women and men, and strengthen the domestic market without increasing infl ation or creating unemployment. Not all members of the business sector support this increase.
